Club Ride – Saturday 18th February

At last we have a reasonable looking weather forecast on a Saturday so plan to head north to Stockbridge as we’ve not been there for a while. Plan to take this opportunity to add a little distance to the recent rides so the loop from Brock to Brock will be 110K.
Usual meet in the main car park in Brookley Road, Brockenhurst at 0850 for 0900 depart.
Out via Rhinefield Road, Bolderwood. Across Ocknells Plain, down Bramble Hill and cross the A36 at West Wellow. Then Shootash, Awbridge, West Dean, Winterslow and a little bit of A30 and stop after 60K at the Wood Fire in Stockbridge.
Return via Houghton, Mottisfont, Dunbridge and the same route we came out on.
Pace circa 27KMH depending on who’s riding and how hard riding home into the wind is!

Club Ride – Saturday 11th February – Mountain Bike Alternative

Forecast for freezing temperatures overnight so not conducive for a road ride in a close peloton so plan this week is to hit the trails and keep off the roads as much as possible.

Usual meet at the main car park in Brookley Road, Brockenhurst at 0850 for 0900 depart.

Route will be out vi Sway Road and before going under the rail bridge bear right onto the old railway trail towards Wootton Bridge. Then into the inclosure to the A35. Cross the road and down towards Burley to re-join the old railway line and onto the Burley – Bransgore Road. Up Castle Hill Lane to Burley Street. Cross under the A31 towards Linford and then trails all the way back to Emery Down. Bit of road around Lyndhurst, possible coffee stop there so bring a small lock. Back via Bank and more trails to Brock. Should be about 50K / 3 hours.

Pace will be kept to suit all the riders so don’t worry if you think you’re slow on an MTB, faster riders can go ahead and turn round and do a bit extras if they wish.

If anybody is out early and thinks it’s too dangerous for the bits of road we plan on using please post.
