Club Ride - Saturday 31st January

This weeks club ride will be a 50 mile loop of the forest with a few hills. Gives a couple of opportunities to shorten the route for those that want to and allows those in the north of the forest to join / leave at various points.

Depart from the car park in Brookley Road, Brockenhurst at 0900, please be there for 0850.

Route will be:
Brockenhurst, Bolderwood, Red Shoot, Gorley, Stuckton, Sandy Balls, then at the Fighting Cocks (optional short cut back via Ocknells Plain), Wood Green, Hale, Nomansland, Newbridge, Woodlands, Ashurst, Colbury, Beaulieu, Brockenhurst

Aiming for a 16MPH average so about 3 hours 15 if all goes to plan

Club Ride - Saturday 17th Jan

Apologies for the late notification but I’ve been watching the weather forecast before deciding what to do.

Tomorrows club ride is planned as a 54 mile / 16MPH average as follows:

Brockenhurst, Hincheslea, Setthorns, Sway War Memorial, Pitmore Lane, Pilley, East End, Sowley, Bucklers Hard, Beaulieu, North Road, Ipley X, Beaulieu Road Station, Lyndhurst, Emery Down, Minstead, Bartley, Woodlands, Colbury, Beaulieu, Hatchet Pond, Brock

Few chances to cut back to Brock for those wanting a shorted ride or if the weather turns nasty. If anybody sees a high risk of black ice tomorrow morning please send note to this alias and put a comment on the blog so that we can replan if sensible.

Apologies no GPX file as Garmin site having problems today

Usual plan for depart, Brockenhurst main car park in Brookley Road, 0850 for 0900 depart.

All welcome

Club Ride - Sunday 11th Jan NOT Saturday 10th

Given the forecast of high winds and heavy rain for Saturday I will again move the club ride to Sunday. If you can only get out Saturday the afternoon looks a better bet.

Plan this week will be to meet at the main car park in Brookley Road Brockenhurst for 0850 and a 0900 depart.

Route will be as follows:

Brockenhurst, Balmer Lawn Beaulieu, Hill Top, Exbury, Lepe, Calshot, Dibden Purlieu, Ipley Cross, Lyndhurst, Emery Down, Bolderwood, A35, Burley. Brock
That will be 50 miles and at a winter pace of 16MPH just over 3 hours

For those wanting a 30 mile route peel back to Brock from Hill Top and back via Hatchet Pond and Balmer Lawn

Plenty of chance for some through and off drills this week as we battle against the wind!

Club Ride - Saturday 3rd January

Update:

Having seen the rain this morning and the forecast for it to continue most of today I’m going to re-schedule todays ride for tomorrow (Sunday).

Hope that’s OK with everybody, if you do ride today take extra care.

Happy New Year to all and hopefully most of you will have started base training already but for those that haven’t it’s not too late.

This weeks club ride will start at Brockenhurst at 0900 Saturday. Please be at the start for 0850. All welcome, meeting point is the main car park in Brookley Road, Brockenhurst, opposite Tesco.

The main ride will be 50 miles with an optional short cut to make it 30 for those wanting a shorter ride or if the weather turns bad.

Route is:

Brockenhurst, Burley, Braggers, Crow, Red Shoot (option for 30 mile route to return to Brock via Bolderwood and Ornamental Drive), Ocknells Plain, Fritham, Nomansland, Furzey, Newbridge, Woodlands, Ashurst, Colbury, Beaulieu and then either return to Brock for 50 miles or for those from the south return home via East Boldre etc.

Pace will be 16 MPH max, if we have a quorum of “B” riders then there will be a group at a slightly slower pace.
