Club Ride – Saturday 15th April – Shaftsbury Century

As has become our tradition over the last few years we’ll head out to Shaftsbury for a century ride. Meet a little earlier than usual, 0820 for 0830 depart from the man car park in Brookley Road, Brockenhurst.
Leisurely first hour at 25KMH to pick up any other riders as we’ll call in at Ashurst station car park at 0930.
We’ll stop for coffee at the Community Café in Broad Chalke after 80K.
Then we can do a second stop if required at the garden centre in Cranbourne or a quick provisions grab at the CoOp in Alderholt if anybody needs a top up.
Pace slightly slower than a normal Saturday ride due to the distance.
Total distance for the full Brockenhurst to Brockenhurst loop 160KM.

Club Ride – Saturday 8th April

Spring weather at last so probably see a lot of bare legs that have been invisible since October this week. As there are Wiggle rides on both days this weekend plan to take the club ride away from the masses and keep off the roads being used by the sportive. This will mean using some of the route we’ve got planned for next weeks Shastfsbury Century but should mean a quieter ride.

Usual meet at 0850 for 0900 depart from the main car park in Brookley Road, Brockenhurst. Out via Rhinefield, Bolderwood. The loose chippings between Bolderwood and Milkham shouldn’t be an issue by tomorrow. I went through there Wednesday and they’re pretty well rolled in.

For those meeting at the end of the airfield road at Milkham should be passing there around 0930.

Onwards via Red Shoot, Moyles Court, Harbridge, Alderholt, Sandleheath, Rockbourne,
Coombe Bissett and along the Chalke Valley to Broad Chalke. There we’ll stop for coffee at the Community Shop before returning via Martin, Sandleheath and the same route we went out on.

Total distance 177K and another ride with over 1000M of climbing. Expect pace to be around 27-28KMH depending on who’s out, the weather and who does a turn on the front!
Look forward to seeing a strong turnout for the spring weather.
