Sorry for the late notice but forecast for high winds tomorrow so not conducive for peloton type riding so with regret this weeks Saturday club ride is cancelled.

Club Ride – Saturday 28th September

This weeks club ride back on the mainland after last weeks tour of the Isle of Wight.
Usual meet at 0850 for an 0900 depart from the main car park in Brookley Road, Brockenhurst.
Out via Rhinefield and up to Bolderwood. Drop down to Emery Down and around Minstead. Cross the A337 and onto Bartley, Copythorne, Furzley and onto Hamptworth. Turn back towards Nomansland, up the newly resurfaced Pipers Wait, across Ocknells Plain, down Red Shoot and then the loop around Ogdens and drop down to the coffee stop at Hockey’s Farm Shop after around 62Km.
Final leg back down to Poulner, Crow, Braggers, Burley and back to Brock for a total of 95Km. Then the mileage monsters can plot a second loop as usual.

NFCC Sunday Club Ride- 29th September 2019

Meet at main car park in Brookley Rd, Brockenhurst 8.50 a.m for a 9.00 a.m start.
This week the plan is to ride out of Brockenhurst along Rhinefield drive, up Bolderwood to an area which boasts one of Europes highest densities of firecrests, I’ve never seen one here so don’t hold your breath. We hang left down past Linwood where the wildlife film maker Eric Ashby lived from 1953 until his death in 2003 (I’d never heard of him either) to High Wood lane, through Poulner and along Ringwood lane. From there we ride up the dreaded drag of Braggers lane before once more heading to Burley which has an increasingly poor reputation thanks to scandalous rumours being spread about it’s nightlife. From the fleshpots of Burley we enter Station rd, go up Wilverley rise and down back into into Brockenhurst to complete the 50K route.
I anticipate glorious sunshine but then I am currently in Namibia. Whatever  the weather I hope for a good turnout. Back next week.
Course is downloadable here.

Thursday night chain gang - End of season

I went out last night at chain gang time and think that the nights are closing in rapidly and that last week should be the last chain gang of 2019. Thanks to all those that have supported the chain gangs in 2019 and we’ll re-start in April 2020 and hopefully be able to support two groups again. I’ve been impressed by some of the very tight groups that I’ve seen this year so please keep that up and continue to make NFCC exemplars for quality cycling on every ride.

Sunday Club Ride 22nd September 2019

Meet at main car park in Brookley Rd, Brockenhurst 8.50 a.m for a 9.00 a.m start.
This week’s ride heads west out of Brock via Burley rd then turns left down to the B3055. Turn right before taking the left turn along Pitmore lane. Follow Pitmore down to Sway Rd to meet the A337.  After a brief and joyless ride north  we exit the road of doom with a right turn up Boldre lane to unsurprisingly Boldre. According to Wikipedia Boldre boasts a pub and used to have a school and a post office, 'the post box can still be seen today' which should make it all feel worthwhile. After we have taken the selfies here we move onwards to Pilley and then Norleywood.  North to East Boldre, South to St Leonards before heading North once more towards Beaulieu. From here we hope for a rare tailwind along Beaulieu rd back into Brockenhurst home of Brockenhurst F.C known by both of their fans as The Badgers. Interestingly The Badgers scored 29 consecutive penalties in a shoot out, an English footballing record. Yay..
Despite not having a shred of evidence to support it I anticipate glorious weather. Enjoy.
Details of the route are downloadable here;
