NFCC Sunday Club Ride- 1st March 2020
Meet as usual at main car park in Brookley Rd, Brockenhurst 8.50 a.m for a 9.00 a.m start.
After Storms Ciara, Dennis and Edna we should finally be able to go back outside this Sunday unless of course Storm Freddy arrives to spoil the fun.
This week the plan is to ride out of Brockenhurst along Rhinefield drive to the A35. From here we cross over to summit Mt Bolderwood, take a left past the Canadian war memorial and up to the old airfield on Ocknell Plain. From here we drop through Linwood before arriving at Moyles court.
Next we follow the narrow Highwood lane being particularly careful to avoid J-Turning Pontiac Firebirds, a cycling manoeuvre known as ‘The Rockford Single-Files’ (One for the kids there).
Onwards through Poulner, briefly on Southampton Rd before crossing the bridge, turning right and then left onto Hightown Rd and left onto Crow Lane.
After a couple of miles we take the left turn up Braggers Lane.
Braggers Lane lays claim to being the only road of that name in the U.K and probably the world, also to being the best road with the best hill and the best houses with the best hedges. The fields are great and they have perfect grass, the best there is. The average house here sells for £875,000 which the Braggers lane residents like to point out is well above average. How Braggers Lane got its name however is shrouded in mystery.
As we reach Burley Rd we take a left down the ramp towards the fleshpots of Burley.
We enter Station rd, go up Wilverley rise and down back into Brockenhurst to complete the 50K route.
Forecast is O.K at present so hope to see a good turnout..

NFCC Sunday Club Ride- 23rd February 2020 - CANCELLED
No matter how many times I look at the forecast for tomorrow it doesn’t get any better. Unfortunately due to forecast of 50mph winds I will have to cancel (yet) again.

Club Ride – Saturday 22nd February - CANCELLED
Weather forecast for Saturday has not improved and if anything has got worse. The forecast for high winds and gusts has crossed the line for where it is sensible for a peloton ride. Therefore, with regret the weeks Saturday ride is cancelled.

Club Ride – Friday 14th February
As we thought earlier in the week Storm Dennis this weekend has ruled out the possibility of club rides on either Saturday or Sunday.
An alternative plan for the retired / skiving / flexible workers is a ride out to Broad Chalke on Friday.
Plan to meet at 0850 for an 0900 depart from the main car park in Brookley Road, Brockenhurst.
Out via Rhinefield, Bolderwood and onto the end of Ocknells Plain by the Milkham car park. Aim to be there around 0940 for anybody that wants to meet there.
Then onto High Corner, Moyles Court, North Gorley, Stuckton, Fordingbridge and head north to Whitsbury. From there onto Coombe Bissett and long the Chalke Valley to Broad Chalke and a well earned coffee stop at the community shop there.
Return via Martin, Alderholt, Harbridge, Poulner, Burley and Brock for a total of around 105Km.
Forecast for Brockenhurst later in the day is a bit windy so we need to be cognisant of that. The forecast further north is a bit better.

Pace to suit whoever is out

NFCC Club Ride – Saturday 8th February
Weather forecast for Saturday looks a lot better than Sunday
this week. I’ve planned the Saturday route to offer an option for the Sunday
riders to join the Saturday ride either for a slightly harder ride than usual
or follow the route a little slower and meet at the coffee stop.
Meet at 0850 for an 0900 depart from the main car park in
Brookley Road, Brockenhurst.
Out via Rhinefield to Bolderwood and onto Red Shoot to
Moyles Court. (Option here for riders to cut out the Ogdens loop and head
towards Poulner). Otherwise a loop round Ogdens and back towards Poulner, Crow,
Braggers Lane, Burley, Holmsley. Then across Setthorns, Sway, Boldre and coffee
stop at Mabel’s in Swallowfields Nursery. Then suitably refreshed Bucklers
Hard, Beaulieu, Lyndhurst, Emery Down, Bolderwood and back to Brock for 113Km.
