Sunday Club Ride 29th January 2023

Meet as usual in Brookley rd car park at 8.50 for a 9.00 A.M start.
Hopefully any remaining ice will have dissipated over the next couple of days and it should be safe to ride. I have selected the route which I think is least likely to have any remaining danger spots.
With Saturdays ride being cancelled due to the risk of ice we will run a Saturday paced group if there is enough demand.
Saturday paced group can do an extra couple of K around Sowley Lane to meet up at approximately the same time at the cafe stop at Setley Ridge and then make another loop somewhere if desired.
If members are out on Saturday and notice that conditions are still treacherous then please let me know and I'll make a late cancellation.

Club Ride Saturday 28th January 2023 – CANCELLED

With regret the weather forecast for Saturday is still making it marginal to plan a peloton style ride this Saturday so with regret and a safety first approach another week without a Saturday ride. I’ll leave it to riders to make their own decisions on whether to venture out onto the road or gravel and at what time.

Hoping that Sunday will be OK so plan at this stage is for an additional group to go out on the Sunday ride but at a more “Saturday” pace depending on who turns up. However, the principle of the Sunday ride will be maintained, and it will as always be a “no drop” ride and that will be the first consideration. If there are sufficient riders for a pacier group without affecting the core Sunday ride that will be the plan. Then after the coffee stop those that want to plan an additional ride can plot that there.

Club Ride Saturday 21st January 2023 – CANCELLED

Our run of bad luck with weather continues this week. Looking at the weather forecast with the overnight frost, the amount of water on the roads and the slow increase in temperature on Saturday the risk of black ice is not compatible with a peloton style ride.

I did consider a gravel ride as the trails should be fine but that still needs an element of road riding to join up the trails. So unfortunately, no planned club ride again this week.

However, like the Pools Panel we have a standby plan for such days. Phil G will post details of a group Zwift ride for Saturday morning for those that want to be sociable. Hopefully riders can get out later in the day if it warms up a bit, but that needs to be an individual’s decision on how they view the conditions.

Stay safe and let’s hope for a “normal” club ride next week.

Club Ride - Saturday 14th January

Apologies but weather forecast is not conducive to a group ride. Phil G has kindly set up a Zwift ride for 0900 Saturday for those feeling sociable

Sunday Club Ride 15th January 2023

Meet as usual in Brookley rd car park at 8.50 for 9.00 A.M start.

Route downloadable here:

Route detours to Setley Ridge cafe just before the end. Forecast is cold but fair but there is likely to be a lot of standing water.
Whatever it's like, it has to be a major improvement on last week. Hope to see another great turnout.

Sunday Club Ride 8th January 2023

Meet as usual in Brookley Rd car park, Brockenhurst at 8.50 for 9.00 A.M start.
This weeks route takes us up Col de Bolderwood and then back down to Lyndhurst before heading south East past Beaulieu to East Boldre. From here we head north to Hatchett pond before returning to Brockenhurst and Setley Ridge for a well earned cuppa.
Following heavy rain on Saturday we can expect wet water-laden roads. On the plus side I have planned the route to avoid the worst of the strongish winds.
Hope to see another great turnout on the first Sunday, on a Sunday, club ride of 2023.

Club Ride Saturday 7th January 2023

Unfortunately, the weather gods are against us again this Saturday. Looking at the forecast for heavy rain and high winds it is what Phil H describes as “scoring high on the misery index!”

But fear not, Phil G is going to plan a club Zwift ride for those whose legs will twitch if they’re not riding Saturday morning so you will be able to meet up virtually. Hopefully the weather will abate by the afternoon and also give riders to chance to get some fresh air.

Hopefully back to normal next week.
