In place of the Meon Valley Century this weekend I’ve
changed the plan to the Shaftsbury Century. Apologies but I’ve been too busy
with the day job to plan the Meon Valley route so am reusing an old favourite.
The A ride will depart from Brockenhurst at 0900 and follow
the following route:
Ashurst Station car park 0930
Woodland, Calmore, Hill St, Wellow, Nomansland, Downton then
Chalk Valley to Shaftsbury and lunch.
Return via Zig Zag, Sixpenny Handley, Cranbourne, Alderholt,
Fordingbridge and probably split depending on who’s riding and where home is.
Pace will be slightly slower than normal A ride so expect
17MPH average
There will be a café / pub stop for lunch in Shaftsbury
The B/C rides will be the loop to Lepe:
42 miles for the long loop if the return is via Blackfield
or 35 if a direct turnaround is made at Lepe
Brock, Hincheslea, Sway, Pilley, Bucklers Hard, Hilltop,
Exbury, Lepe and either return via Blackfield or direct to Beaulieu and Balmer
Lawn
Pace 14-16MPH depending on who’s riding and if there are 1
of 2 groups
For any new riders the depart point is the main car park in
Brookley Road opposite Tesco. Please be at the start for 0850.
Hope to see another god turnout this week
Barry
