As last weeks ride was a wash-out we will use the same route.
Meet at main car park in Brookley Rd, Brockenhurst 8.50 a.m for a 9.00 a.m start.
This week the plan is to ride out of Brockenhurst along Rhinefield drive, up Bolderwood to an area which boasts one of Europes highest densities of firecrests, I’ve never seen one here so don’t hold your breath. We hang left down past Linwood where the wildlife film maker Eric Ashby lived from 1953 until his death in 2003 (I’d never heard of him either) to High Wood lane, through Poulner and along Ringwood lane. From there we ride up the dreaded drag of Braggers lane before once more heading to Burley which has an increasingly poor reputation thanks to scandalous rumours being spread about it’s nightlife. From the fleshpots of Burley we enter Station rd, go up Wilverley rise and down back into into Brockenhurst to complete the 50K route.
I anticipate glorious sunshine but then I am currently in Namibia. I hope to be back from my travels in time to ride this week so hope to see a good turn-out in order that I can bore you all witless with travelling anecdotes.
Course is downloadable here.
