Sunday Club Ride. August 2nd 2020

Meet as usual in Brookley Rd car park at 8.50 so we can form into groups of 6 or fewer for a prompt 9.00 a.m start.
Covid-19 Protocols are still in place so please maintain social distancing, No guests or non-members are allowed and we will not pick up any additional riders once we leave the start.
We will be taking the route out to Hatchett Pond, Loop around East Boldre and St Leonards, then Beaulieu and the Lepe loop
Route can be downloaded here https://www.strava.com/routes/14885191
Coffee stop at the Forest Park Hotel feels like the kind of luxurious end to a ride that we deserve so plan to head there again this week for Vittles.

Club Ride – Saturday 1st August

This weeks club ride will be a 110Km ride out of the forest on one of our well used routes along the Chalke Valley. I am thinking that the forest is going to be very busy this Saturday so we are probably best riding away from the area.

Route can be found at:

https://www.plotaroute.com/route/1225465?units=km

Please be at the start for 0850 so we can get into our groups of 6 of fewer as its very disruptive for riders to arrive at the last minute once we’ve sorted ourselves into groups. We will leave as usual at 0900 sharp.

We are still operating under our Covid specific rules so that regretfully means no visitors or non-members and we will not pick up any additional riders once we leave the start.

We will have a planned coffee stop at the Community Shop in Broad Chalk at 55Km. I suspect it may be a takeaway service but there is plenty of room outside.

On return to Brock we can make further plans for those wanting a longer ride.

Sunday Club Ride – 26th July

Same social distancing rules as previous weeks so please be at the start for 0850 so we can get organised into our smaller groups. British Cycling are still at Stage 3 of The Way Forward:
but will hopefully have Sport England permission to move to Stage 4 next week which will enable us to have a larger peloton if we wish.
Forecast is good for Sunday so we might finish with a Pleine Aire coffee stop at Forest Park Hotel.. Hope to see a good turnout.
Phil.

Club Ride – Saturday 25th July

Weather forecast at present for Saturday is not good for the afternoon so planning a shorter but hillier 3 hour 80Km ride. I shall look forward to forming a grupetto at the back with my comrades that hate gravity!

Not planning a coffee stop at the end as the rain is due around 1200 but there are plenty of places open in Brock now for those that wish or are refuelling for a longer ride. We can take a view on the day whether to meet up post ride of whether to run for cover!

Club Ride – Saturday 18th July

Thanks to all those that have supported the previous two weeks club rides as we adjust to the new protocols.

Sorry but we cannot accept any non members at present or anybody joining after the start so please be at the start for 0850 so we can get into groups.

Each ride has resulted into us splitting into three smaller pelotons and seems to be working OK.
For the Saturday ride this week we are still under the same conditions as before but as we are getting used to the new way of riding we can stretch the ride to 100Km this week.
Route at https://www.plotaroute.com/route/1207565?units=km
Coffee stops on Saturdays are going to be hard at present, possibility of a stop at end of the ride at the Forest Park Hotel in Brock. We'll take a poll at the start fo the ride and let the hotel how many to expect and when.
Weather forecast looks fair so hopefully see another good turnout.

Sunday Club Ride – 12th July

Great to see a good turnout last weekend as we re-started the club rides.
For anyone who is intending to attend this weekend please familiarise yourselves with with the guidance in the British Cycling “The Way Forward” document.
We meet as usual, 0850 for a 0900 depart from the main car park in Brookley Road, Brockenhurst. Please be there for 0850 for an additional safety briefing and so that we can get into groups of 6 or fewer. Please ensure that you practice social distancing in the car park and under no circumstances get into any groups larger than 6.
I will try to get everybody into small groups that can ride together. Might be worth letting me know if you are feeling particularly rusty after the long lock down so that we can have Slow and Slower groupings.
As detailed on the Zoom call and in the PDF circulated, we cannot accommodate guests or non-members at this stage on the club rides so please don’t bring any along. Also, we will not under any circumstances pick up additional riders along the route and any riders that miss the start will not be permitted to join.
Sorry if this sounds a bit draconian but hopefully you all understand and are accustomed to living and working in this way at present.
This week we will use the route that heads North through Rhinefield, up and then down Bolderwood, through Minstead to Bartley, Ashurst, Ipley Cross, Beaulieu then back to Brock.
It is planned that this will be at a comfortable pace and is as always on Sundays a strictly no-drop ride.
Please make yourselves familiar with the route and if possible upload to your device https://www.strava.com/routes/15421340
Forecast is lovely so hope to see another good turnout.

Club Ride – Saturday 11th July

This weeks club ride will be a similar format to last week. A 80Km / 3 hour non-stop loop.
Depart will be at 0900 from the main car park in Brookley Road, Brockenhurst. Please be there for 0850 so we can get into groups of 6 or fewer and can repeat the Covid 19 specific ride briefing especially for any riders that were not on last weeks ride.
With the current restrictions we still cannot accommodate any non-members or visitors. We will also not pick up any riders once we have left the car park.
Please familiarise yourself with the route and if possible load it onto your Garmin / Wahoo.
There is a possibility of a coffee stop near the end of the ride at the Cider Pantry in Burley. I’m not sure if it’s take away only but we may be able to make a stop there for those that wish.
Thanks to all those that rode last week for all your help and co-operation.

Club Rides - Guests and Visitors

To all those guests who join us from different clubs whilst visiting the forest.
Apologies but due to the restrictions we need to put in place during the pandemic we are unable to accommodate any guests on non members on the club rides at present. Hopefully this will change soon and we can welcome you back.
Hope you understand and look forward to being more inclusive in the near future.
