Downloadable here https://www.strava.com/routes/23419152The updated British Cycling guidelines published on the 16th September mean that we will continue with the practices recently adopted. Key points are to maintain separation in groups of 6 or fewer at the start point. We will continue to ride in groups of 6 or fewer. No riders to join the groups once we have left the start. Rides are members only. Please be at the start for 0850 so we can get into groups for a 0900 depart. Weather is cold but sunny so hope to see another good turnout. Phil H

Club Ride – Saturday 26th September

This weeks club ride will be a hilly 104Km loop around the north of the forest. Route can be found at https://www.plotaroute.com/route/1290617?units=km

Coffee stop at around 64Km at Hockey’s Farm Shop. Given that it’s going to colder than we are used to and the additional restrictions brought in recently, the annex at Hockey’s gives us the best chance of a warm stop and maintaining our separate groups. Please remember to bring mask / face covering for ordering in the shop.

Sunday Club Ride 20th September 2020

Meet as usual in the car park, Brookley Rd at 8.50 for a 9.00A.M start This weeks route is Rhinefield, Bolderwood, Redshute, Poulner, Braggars, Burley and back to Brock for well earned refreshments at The Sett. Route downloadable here: https://www.strava.com/routes/14884866 New drill for changing position in the group worked well last week and resulted in a tidier peloton so will continue with that. As per the guidance last week please ensure that we do not assemble in any groups larger than 6 at the start. Make a conscious effort to stand in pods of 6 or fewer with a clearly visible separation between them. Same Covid rules as per recent weeks, groups of 6 or fewer as per British Cycling guidelines. This is both necessary to adhere to BC rules and so as not to negate riders third party insurance. Unfortunately, our guidelines still forbid us from taking non-members or visitors on the club rides. All riders must be present at the start so we can record who is riding in which group for traceability and no riders to join groups once we have left the start. Forecast looks nice again so let's make the most of it before the inevitable wetter and colder months take hold.

Club Ride – Saturday 19th September

This weeks club ride will be a 114Km loop around the forest.

Route at https://www.plotaroute.com/route/1282546?units=km

Hopefully my route planning software (bad workman blaming his tools here) will not be diverting the Saturday ride down obscure paths and bridleways like last week.

Coffee stop at around 75Km at the Community Shop in Minstead. Please remember face coverings for the shop as they operate as a shop not a sit in cafe.

Sunday Club Ride – 13th September 2020

With the new restrictions on groups of 6 or more coming into effect on Monday we’ll need to continue with the practices we’ve been following the past few weeks. Can we please be totally clear in observing this in the car park at the start and making sure that we are demonstrably following the guidelines. So, when the seventh rider arrives please make sure we are in two distinct groups.
Unfortunately, we will need to continue the members only policy for the group rides so no visitors or non-members until further notice. We will also need to retain our policy on no joiners once we have started so we can maintain our tracing plan and ensure we keep our max group size.
As we are now stuck with the Covid protocols and max-6 groups for the foreseeable future we intend to improve one or two things in regard to how we ride as a group.
Firstly by keeping 3 tight and tidy lines of 2 riders unless it becomes necessary to single up.
Secondly by fomalising how we change position in the group/line. This will require a quick walk through pre-ride and more communication than usual whilst on the ride.
Thirdly, we need to pay attention to the pace on Sunday's, it has slowly but surely increased. We need to make the ride approachable to new riders and maintaining a comfortable speed will also aid the group in staying together and tidy.
Please arrive by 0850 for an 0900 start so that we can get sorted into groups and do the walk-through..
Going to go with the easiest and most familiar route this week. Route is downloadable here, https://www.strava.com/routes/14885191
Probably back to The Sett for refreshments or if busy the Forest Lawn Hotel.
Forecast is delightful so hope to see a good turnout.

Club Ride – Saturday 12th September

Club Ride – Saturday 5th September

No change to the British Cycling Covid guidelines so we will be keeping to the protocols of the last few weeks.

Unfortunately, that still means that the club rides are members only so no guests or visitors for the time being.

Usual meet at 0850 for an 0900 depart from Brookley Road, Brockenhurst.

This weeks ride will be out to Broad Chalke and coffee at the Community Café there. This will be at 72Km. Total ride distance 120Km.

Route at https://www.plotaroute.com/route/1266890?units=km (apologies start point is slightly out)

We’ll split into 2 or 3 groups depending on numbers and those in Phil Harris’ group can enjoy an extra break and top up their tan whilst watching the weekly puncture repair.

Sunday Club Ride 6th September 2020

Sunday Club Ride 6th September 2020

Meet as usual in Brookley Rd Car Park, Brockenhurst at 8.50 for a 9.00A.M start.
Currently looks as though BC's Covid protocols remain in place so unless something changes we will be remaining in groups of 6 or fewer. Also sadly no guests, visitors allowed.
This weeks 48K route takes us up to the A35, then north of Burley, down towards Crow, back of Bransgore before heading back to Burrley and returning to Brock.
Route can be downloaded here: https://www.strava.com/routes/16701553
Club favourite, The Sett cafe is back in action so we will probably head there for our hard-earned post ride refreshments.
Forecast as always on Sundays is excellent so hope to see another good turnout.
